Softball

So last night was a great game, we were down to the wire. Tied at 7 innings so we had to go into an 8th inning. Luckily we scored and beat them by 2!

As you know my glove was broken but I did an amazing McGiver on it and she held up through the whole game last night! Still need a new one but no rush to get it yet!

Softball Gloves

So as my glove is broken, I need to invest in a new one. The above 3 are the contenders. I'm leaning towards the Rawlings (far right) as it looks cool. Alot of the gloves I've seen are black & tan but I don't like the look of them. But the Mizuno is good too (centre) as the pocket is bigger catching easier. The Worth one (left) is nice as I like the backing to the pocket. It looks sturdy and is called the Gladiator. They are all about £70 so price wise they are equal.

Any thoughts on which one I should get??

Again I'm so lazy with the blogging. This month has been pretty good actually. Not so much softball due to 3 weeks worth of rained out games but it's always bright and sunny on Sunday's.

Went to see The Importance of Being Ernest on Thursday at the Regent Open Air theatre. It had been raining off and on all day and whilst Helen & I were sitting on my waterproof jacket it decided to bucket down. We were a bit drenched but it cleared up so a perfectly clear sky came about for the performance. Extremely funny.

We have 3 matches this week so that will be interesting. First one is tomoz (monday) and another on Thursday and one more on Sunday. So many rained out games to make up.

4th July Celebrations & Lundy

So it's been ages since i've blogged! So much but so little has been going on. Lots of leaving do's, birthday drinks and stuff. Not that interesting!

But on Saturday it was the 4th of July and we had a celebration in Regents park with my softball buddies. We all brought some food and we played softball all afternoon. A few random American's who were walking past joined in with us. It was a fantastic day as the weather was just right, think I might have even picked up some colour!

On Sunday I went up to Cambridge for a spot of puppy sitting. Lundy is 15 weeks old and is a black cockerspaniel. Ruth & Carrie had to go away for the evening so lucky me! Claire & Annabel came around for tea and they brought little Freddy! I tried to swap Lundy for Freddy but Claire said no! It was a lovely day spent watching the tennis (wimbeldon....unlucky Andy) and catching up with the girls.

What a great weekend, although the early morning start to get to London for work wasn't the best!

Oh and my car got scratched AGAIN!!! That makes it 3 times now. Hopefully thats it.

ScanLandanAvia - Visiting the Dane

What a lovely weekend spent in Copenhagen with Inger & Colin.

Colin & I met up at Stansted airport on Friday after work and took the evening flight to Copenhagen. It was so exciting to run thru the gates and see Inger there waiting. We headed back to her "penthouse" for a quiet one.

Ingers Penthouse - OH MY GOD!!! It's awesome. The amount of times I caught myself wandering round feeling jealous! I'm suprised I didn't turn green permanently. It's a 2 bedroom apartment with an amazing loungeroom and cute kitchen & bathroom. I LOVE IT! I WANT IT (here in London). The only thing is a lift wouldn't go astray, as 5 floors feels like ages.

Saturday we got up lesiurely and headed into town. Colin & I hired bikes for the weekend so we were quite independant getting round town. We cycled into the centre of town pointing out some sights to Colin, then it was time for a bit of retail therapy. Colin was such a great sport waiting for us outside shops, reading his book!

Once we got home it was pizza and preparation for a night out. We hit a mexican bar first which did pretty awesome cocktails, then it was off to another club for a bit of dancing. What an experience. A massive fight erupted in the club and we three were stuck in the disco room whilst glass was being hurled about, thrown against walls. It was extremely scary but we had Colin and a couple of other guys standing in front of us. Finally the cops showed up and sprayed something gross that got up our noses. We managed to get out unhurt! Sooooo surreal. Figured it was time to go home then.

Sunday we got up late and headed to a local place for brunch! Sooo tasty! Colin headed off to do a bit of sightseeing so Inger and I went back to the apartment for some serious Grey's Anatomy watching. 5 episodes later we reached the cliff hanger! It was amazing. Luckily Colin didn't come home till later otherwise he would have found 2 teary girls.

Monday we got up relatively early and headed into town for a cruise around the canals on the local boats and lunch in the square. The weather was perfect and we didn't want to leave. Colin was off first so we said goodbye and Inger & I headed to the park to lie in the sun for a couple of hours. After that it was back to the aparment to get my stuff, then it was my turn to leave.

Not too sad though as Inger is hopefully coming over in August!

Shakespeare in the park

A bunch of us went to see Much Ado About Nothing at Regents Park Open Air Theatre (http://www.openairtheatre.org/). It was amazing, we had a BBQ on the grass followed by strawberries and cream. Then it was in to see the show. The actors were brilliant and I love the story. The weather was perfect you couldn't have asked for better. And as I wasn't able to make our softball match, the night was topped off with the news that we had beaten a previous rival! Whoo hooo

Looking forward to our next play, The Importance of Being Ernest.

Another work week, softball and another trip to Cambridge

So last week was mainly working and softball.

Tuesday 19th May - Base Jumpers vs London Legends

After last weeks win we were ready to add another point to the win column. Unfortunately we were short a couple girls, but Sam’s girlfriend Debbie went from cheerleader to right outfield. Also it was Tim’s farewell game.

We started off brilliant! Gideon was pitching them in and striking them out. Out batting was on fire, we couldn’t do wrong. By the second innings we were up 13 to 2 but then the Legends lived up to their name. They came back with a vengeance. After a couple of bad innings we got to the 6th and final innings. As the home team we were batting last and the score was 34 to 16 in their favour. If we needed a miracle it was right about now. 18 runs to tie and 19 to win………we got 4! We still managed to score 20 runs to their 34 which was a fantastic effort.

Our batting and fielding was great, we are coming together as a team better and better. Unfortunately we didn’t have the right calls from the umpire but that’s the name of the game. We did go down fighting! And Tim got a couple massive hits off for his last match.

Then on Saturday I picked Julian up in North West London and we headed up to Cambridge. We got to Mila's finally and had picked Colin up on the way. We all then headed over to Jesus Green for the 36th Cambridge Beer Festival. We were straight in, no waiting and the sun was glorious. Annabel, Claire & Freddy met us in there and it was an afternoon of lying on the grass soaking up the sun. Had a lovely pork & apple sandwich from the hog roast going. After that it was a quiet night in at Mila's with Thai takeaway and watching W (dub-ya).

Up on Sunday and it was farewell to Mila and hello to Jamie & Vicky. It was so nice to catch up with those two, Colin came too and we hit Giraffe for Sunday brunch. Then it was on to meet up with Julian again and back to Jesus Green to veg out on the grass for the arvo. Charlie came to met me late in the arvo....it was so good to see her, felt like ages since I had. Then I walked round to Carrie &Ruth's place for a cuppa. They have just got a new puppy. Lundy is 8 week old black spaniel. She is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute. She followed Carrie round and was so soft and cuddly. Finally it was time to go home.

Monday (Public Holiday) was spent doing NOTHING, talking to NOONE!!! It was great. A couple of friends (Francesca & Sarah) had spent the day in London so were crashing with us for the night before heading back to Norwich so it was nice to spend the evening with them watching Fracture with Anthony Hopkins. Spine tingling but good.

Now back at work! Softball tonight (maybe) so long as the clouds blow over!
