My Big Sis's Birthday

Happy Birthday Fifi!! Hope you had a great day. Love Kat (your fav sis)

Getting Back on Track

So it's been ages since I've blogged! Things have been a bit crazy as still moving my stuff from Cambridge down to Portsmouth. But it's my last weekend in Cambridge this weekend. We are going for dinner on Saturday night and afternoon tea at mine on Sunday. Can't believe it's nearly over.

Things are going well in Portsmouth, my flatmates, Sam (Sth African) and Ben (Aussie bloke) are great and so much fun. We have already been out to a pub to see a live band. I know these guys are going to be great fun. Finally got round to taking some pics of the house and took a video too!

Enjoy

Can you smell the seaside?

On Saturday I went to the car hire company and unfortunately they didn't have any compact automatic cars, so they had to give me a luxury car for the same price! he he he So I drove away with a black Mercedes A Class. Awesome as I was able to stuff half my room into the boot and backseat. Reckon I will only have to do one more trip and everything will be down in Portsmouth. The only bad thing is today (Wednesday) I got up in the morning to drive to work and some idiot had smash my left wing mirror!! Can you believe it. Luckily I found a Mercedes dealership near work and they fixed it for £50. The guys in the office were saying it might cost about £250 so you can imagine my relief. Not sure where I will park her tonight though. Although if they want to smash cars, unless she's in a garage, they will do it.
Anyway got to work on Monday morning after a horrendous 3 & 1/2 hour trip at 6am from Cambridge to Elstead. NEVER drive on the M25 it's PANTS!!! Left early to get down to Portsmouth in the light so I would be able to see where I was living. Managed to get everything upstairs and unpacked that night, although I was running on autopilot after 9pm. Tuesday was uneventful and now today! Hopefully settle into a routine thats not to over the top.

Guvnor's Dinner in London

A great night out with the Cambridge gang. A last hoo-rah. It was really great to catch up with people I haven't seen since last year. A few drinks, nice food and great conversation.

Going to miss Pat & Martin! Who's going to take pics with me?

Vienna, Austria

A bit late but thought you might want to know a bit about Austria. Well we got there on Friday night after work and went straight to bed. Saturday we were up, full up on the all you can eat breakfast, then it was off to see Verena! It was so great to see little Babina! A nice day of shopping and a bit of sightseeing. Saturday night we went to an awesome Austrian restuarant for Mila's birthday. A fantastic place with super tasty food. Then it was onto a few clubs for drinks and dancing. Mind you the smoking ban is not applicable in Austria! My goodness I thought I wasn't going to be able to breathe inside some of these places! It's disgusting. We got home about 3ish, Naomi was hammered and extremely funny, trying to fit into a tiny cupboard (she wasn't able to). Sunday we got up and headed into town for a day of sightseeing. The sun was out full force and it was a stunning day for views out over the city. We spent the day at a beautiful palace and going in a ferris wheel and most of all EATING! We ended up at the famous Sacher Cafe where we ate Sacher Torte and world reknowned dessert. It was extremely chocolatey. I opted for strudel! Sunday night we had a few more drinks in town, then it was time to say good bye to Verena and head back to the hostel. We set the alarm for 5.30am as we had to get a bus to the airport. Unfortunately we slept thru it and woke up at 6am. We had to get taxi's at 6.15am! So it was manic trying to get dressed and downstairs in 10mins! funny now, but earlier. But we all managed to get back in one piece.

Vienna is an exremely beautiful city. The people were ok but the sights were extrodinary. I will definetly go back during summer and take some time to go to Innsbruck to see Verena's home town.

Note: They don't speak Austrian, they speak German!

Presents!

Well what a surprise! I got a beautiful bunch of flowers, £100 of vouchers from Monsoon from the guys in the office. I was blown away. It was so nice and they all loved the cake! Soooo tasty although everyone's teeth turned either blue or green. Extremely funny.

So Long Grand Arcade

Well today is my last day at work here in Cambridge. A bit sad at the moment to leave everyone as after 4 years you get used to people and their quirky ways. Will do a bit of work today but take it easy as possible. I made my farewell cake as well. Going for a few drinks and some food tonight at Henry's so there might be some tearful shots tonight.

Locked Door? No match for my Jackie Chan skills

Ever had one of those mornings? I did on Tuesday morning. I had just been asleep for 16 hours after we got back from Vienna and woke up at 8am. I was a bit out of it but grabbed my towel for a shower. Previously I had locked my door from the inside so I could sleep and have none of my housemates bother me. The round lock has a switch to lock it from the inside, I ASSUMED that the lock would click open upon me opening the door from the inside.

NO

I walked into the bathroom, then turned to go back into my room to get some stuff and guess what! The door was locked. There I was standing in my pj's with no shoes, no phone, no keys, no glasses. What should I do. I had no way of contacting anyone as I had nothing. I tried a set of keys I found in the kitchen hoping it might open it by NO! So what do you do.......

Kick the door in!

Luckily as I work in construction, the boys on site are helping me get a replacement door before the landlord finds out and tries to charge me an arm and a leg. Really it's his fault as he never explained how the stupid locks worked! 4 years of living in the one place and 3 weeks before I go, I wreck the place!
