Mens pommel horse final - 2012 Olympics

The ladies vault final - 2012

Olympic Weekend

Friday night I managed to cycle home and cut 15 minutes off my time so did the 10 miles in 1hr & 15mins. Result! As you can imagine it was a nice relaxing evening at home.

Saturday I met up with Tom and we went to see The Dark Knight Rises at the IMAX in Swiss Cottage. It was actually really good and very entertaining. The IMAX made the floor and seats vibrate, bit weird. Then we went and met up with Simmo and we headed to Hyde Park for BT London Live - basically a massive festival which is free with big screens, food stalls and games areas. It was fun as we managed to see Jessica Ennis win gold in the Heptathalon event. The atmosphere was great but it got a bit cold and everyone was pretty tanked so we headed to the pub. A couple cheeky ones there, then it was off home to bed.

Sunday - big day - Gymnastic finals at the O2. I was so excited. Got down there and met up with Tanya and we headed into the venue. Our seats were AMAZING! We were so close to the athletes it was fantastic. It was the ticket I had won through work so there were a bunch of work people there. The things these athletes could do was out of control. I loved every minute of it, and there was a celebrity sighting! Can you guess who in the below photo......... The Duchess of Cambridge - Kate

Gillian, Tanya, Me & Alexandra

After the event we headed out and Alexandra and I thought we would try out the air lift shuttle that takes you from North Greenwich to Canning Town. Although a lot of people seemed to have the same idea, but the line didn't take long at all. It was a quick 5 minute trip across the water, and the weather was perfect for us. Then home to put my feet up after an action packed weekend.

Cycled in to work today and I'm feeling very tired. I'm told that after a week of cycling thats when I will get my adrenaline hit. Fingers crossed. Off tonight to Celia's as she is giving me her flat screen telly & surround sound! RESULT. Luckily Rich is going to get his car and help me move it.

Olympic Beach Volleyball 2012

Olympic Beach Volleyball 2012

Last night Clare and I went to the beach volleyball down at Horse Guards Parade. It was FANTASTIC.

We went for dinner first as we had been told that it was quite expensive to eat at the actual event, so we hit Nando's (yum!) then made our way via bus down to The Mall for the entrance. No worries with the security or lines, we went straight thru. We walked around the venue a bit and had a look but it was soon time to head into the stands.

So exciting we ran up our steps and burst out onto the platform, the atmosphere was fantastic and our seats were amazing. The support crew & volunteers got the crowd pumped and we saw:

Austria vs Switzerland - mens preliminary
USA vs Czech Republic - mens preliminary

Womens Lucky loser final : TEAM GB vs Austria
Mens Lucky loser final : Croatia vs Germany

It was so great to be a part of something so huge. The music was played in between points and there were people dancing on the pitch. The mexican wave went around about 10 times, so funny. A definete high point of the Olympics.

June & July Round up

13th June - Annabel's birthday celebrations in Cambridge at one of the colleges. A beautiful evening, great company, tasty food. It was so nice to see Annabel as it had been awhile.

15th - 17th June - Jurassic Coast walk - 26 miles for charity. What an experience, the walk was super tough especially on the second day but it was worth it when we crossed the finish line. I got a blister the first day, so had to strap it up and keep walking on Sunday. Managed to get blisters on my little toes and underneath the pad of my soles. Camping was an experience, not happy that there was no hot water or showers! It was all about the baby wipes and cold sink water. Worth it though and we have the one in September to train for now.

Natasha and I went to see a show called "Briefs" down at the Southbank, Udderbelly festival. A bunch of Aussie boys putting on a hilarious show. It was shown in the Speilgeit Tent, which is the same tent that I saw Darren's show when I was home at the Sydney Festival. It was great.

A night out with friends for a few drinks, turned into too many cocktails at Bar Revolution. It was alot of fun though dancing and laughing. Luckily I had Louisa & Danielle helping me get home otherwise I might have fallen over!

London Zoo Lates - A great evening walking around London Zoo, Regents Park. The animals were awesome and there were heaps of people walking around laughing. They had stalls of food from around the world, we had some tasty food before continuing around the zoo. I will have to go back as we didn't get a chance to see all the animals. I did get to see a MASSIVE snail, it was bigger than my fist, don't reckon mum would want one in her garden patch.
