Louisa's Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated Louisa's 30th birthday (even though it's today 16th). We had lunch in her office and ate heaps of chocolate covered things and cake as well. We got her some theatre tokens, Picturehouse membership & lollies for her which she really liked.

Then last night we went for dinner at TGI Friday's. It was great. The food was good and everyone loved the cocktails.

Wilmington, North Carolina

It was so nice to leave the cold and rainy weather of London and head across the sea to Wilmington. After a horrendously long journey I finally arrived on Friday at lunchtime. I saw Fiona, Lucy & Henry waiting for me and I ran up and grabbed Lucy for a big hug.

It's amazing how tall Lucy is and she has a funny little accent, with some words sounding super American. Henry is GORGEOUS!!! I couldn't stop hugging and kissing him, although he is massive for an 8 month old and very heavy but such a pleasant little thing!

What followed was a lovely week of relaxing, playing with the kids and hanging out with Fiona & Andrew. We even made it to the beach one day as it was soooo hot although the water was way too cold to actually swim.

Then it was Easter Sunday! The day of Henry's baptism. Andrew's parents & brother Michael showed up so it was nice to see them as well. I got some lovely chocolates from the Thoms, then it was time to head off to church for a morning service. After the service we headed back to the house and started to prepare for the baptism and pizza party after.

The ceremony was lovely and Fiona's friend Jenny sung a couple of songs which was so beautiful. After the baptism Andrew fired up the oven and everyone starting making their own personalised pizzas. It was a lovely afternoon, weather was perfect and everyone was so friendly. I think we finished about 11ish and then it was straight to bed as I was exhausted!

After trying to stuff everything back into my suitcase I finally managed to sit on it and do up the zip! A nice afternoon followed of more pizzas and sitting around the backyard relaxing. Lots of hugs and kisses later and I was off to the airport for the trip home.

I finally arrived home on Tuesday afternoon! Now ready to plan the next trip!

Mila's Birthday at Loch Fyne

The Good, The Bad & The HORRENDOUS

The Good

Mila's birthday was on Tuesday and we all met up in Cambridge for dinner at Loch Fyne. Couldn't wait to get there as I love seafood. Me, Angela, Helen, Sabina, Annabel & Claire met up with Mila at 8pm to eat and celebrate. I had a lovely squid starter followed by seafood suprise (scallops, tune, bream & salmon with spinach). Super tasty. And ofcourse we followed up with chocolate cake. I didn't have time to make it so luckily Helen got a nice one from Sainsbury's!

The Bad

Got a taxi back to Cambridge station with the girls, getting there at 11.10pm to discover there were no trains to London. The train guy said I had to get the bus replacement to Hitchin and then the bus from there! Bummer. Oh well I had to get home so it was onto the bus. We departed Cambridge at 11.20pm and I managed to doze on and off until I realised it was nearly midnight and we seemed to be stopping at every single country town!! So ofcourse I started stressing that when I arrived in Hitchin that there wouldn't be any trains and I would be stuck in the middle of Cambridge & London. We finally arrived in Hitchin at 12.40am and the last train to London was 12.54am THANK GOODNESS!! So finally managed to get on the train and arrived back at Kings Cross station at 1.35am.

The HORRENDOUS

Upon arriving at Kings Cross after all the trains had stopped, it was now time to get the night bus home. Unfortunately the nightbus I needed was only twice an hour and the next one was at 2.06am. So standing around in my dress, yes a dress with no tights on and it's only 1 degree! I had to wait for the bus to show up. Finally it arrived and I got on. Unfortunately this bus was only going to take me as far as Elephant & Castle where I had to wait for my actual nice bus to take me directly home. So the 176 finally showed up at 2.45am and I slowly climbed the stairs up to the top deck where I pretty much passed out I was so tired. Got home finally at 3.20am. EXHAUSTED. I was up again at 6.30am to get ready for work. As you can imagine I was extremely cranky and awful to work with on the Wednesday!

Voucher spending spree

Friday was a lovely day off where I spent the morning cleaning my room and then relaxing in the afternoon. Friday night I met up with Burak and a bunch of people to celebrate his birthday with drinks at All Bar One behind Liverpool Street Station. It was a nice evening and I managed to get the last train home.

Saturday was spent in bed relaxing in my lovely clean room.

Sunday I went shopping and spent some of my gift vouchers.

1. I bought a dress from Monsoon
2. 4 books from Waterstones:
Twenties Girls by Sophie Kinsella
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
The Scarecrow by Michael Connelly - his new one!
The Five Greatest Warriors - Matthew Reilly - His new one too!!

3. Also some black socks from Next

A great day although it is getting colder and there was a slight layer of snow on the ground when I woke up this morning. Lets hope it doesn't escalate!
